Garry Fearon "Rings the Bell"
at Great Lake Walk finishing line.

On Saturday, 18th September 2004 Lake Cowichan again hosted the now famous "Great Lake Walk" This 56 kilometer event traverses Cowichan Lake and draws hundreds of runners, joggers and recreational hikers. The event is a great opportunity for groups such as the Youbou TimberLess Society to raise funds. This year, the YTS was represented by member Garry Fearon who collected pledges of over $900.00. Garry's effort was outstanding and truly appreciated by every member of the YTS. A recreational walker, Garry completed the 56 klms in a little over eight hours and showed very little discomfort at the finish line. Never a shy person, Garry was quite matter of fact about saying he reckons he can handle the walk for at least the next ten years.
