March 8th, 2006 saw a group of
YTS members climb out of a warm bed in the wee hours of the morning
to drive up and participate in a logging truck stoppage on the
"hump" at Port Alberni. Once again our trusted old banner
hung proudly off a loaded truck. A few hundred individuals braved
the driving rains and snow to make their statements. Enough is
enough. Stop Raw Log Exports. Save our Drinking water. Save our
jobs.
There was a great mix of peoples ranging from hard core environmentalist,
to former and current loggers, to former millworkers to grandparents,
to Union reps and even the Mayor.. in short all sorts of people
with one main focus. Stop the devastation happening in our forests.
Give some control back to the people!!
Stay tuned for more such events coming soon to a town near you!!!
