The Wednesday, 17 January 2007 meeting of the Executive Directors was convened at the Riverside Hotel Restaurant, Lake Cowichan at 9:00 AM with
all Directors but Casey, Dickens, and Weir present. Member B. Hayward attended.

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 13 December 2006 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported all balances.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.

The Secretary reported receipt of monies from the PPWC (Local 2) in support of the legal trust fund.

5. Ken and Roger reported attending a roundtable strategy conference in Nanaimo on Thursday, 11 January 2007 hosted by the BC Federation of Labour. Discussions centred upon a response to the Log Export Policy Review. Authors Don Wright and Bill Dumont made a presentation. Participants agreed to try and forge a consensus document and send a
delegation to meet with the Minister of Forests by month-end.

6. Ken reported on an invitation from filmmaker Tom Shandel for the YTS to endorse a proposed symposium entitled The Forest and The Trees.
This diverse gathering on Vancouver Island, would celebrate the true value of our coastal forest resource. All agreed to support this initiative.

7. General discussion about success of the legal fundraising efforts. Roger to send special letters of thanks for the sizeable contributions from WCWC
and PPWC.

8. General discussion about events coming up this year. Chris will inquire about the Youbou Hall for the next YTS Xmas Party. Ken will inquire about rental of the Somenos Hall for the YTS AGM.

The meeting was adjourned at Noon after the Directors agreed to reconvene at the Riverside Hotel Restaurant, Lake Cowichan on Wednesday, 24 January 2007 at 9:00 AM.
