The Wednesday, 31 January 2007 meeting of the Executive Directors was changed from Lake Cowichan to Buckles Restaurant, Duncan. The meeting started at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey, Dickens, and Weir present.

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 24 January 2007 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported receipt of a $200 gift for the acquisition of an electronic scanner.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.

The Secretary reported receipt of postage stamps.

The Secretary reported sending a letter of response to Forests Minister Rich Coleman about the recent Log Export Policy Report.

The Secretary reported sending an information package to reporter Wendy Stueck at The Globe and Mail.

5. Ken reported negotiations with the BC Federation of Labour over drafting a round-table response on the Log Export Policy Report to Forests Minister Coleman. It was agreed that Ken sign on behalf of the YTS.

6. Ken reported booking the Somenos Hall for the YTS AGM. (Sunday, 22 April 2007 at 1:00 PM)

7. Ken reported on a lengthy interview with business reporter Wendy Stueck from The Globe and Mail on Wednesday, 24 January 2007.

8. Ken reported acquiring an electronic scanner to assist with archiving the Roy Legate photograph collection. Joanie will be asked to send a YTS letter of thanks for the special gift that enabled this timely purchase.

9. Ken reported to Tom Shandel about YTS support in principle for the Forest and Trees symposium initiative.

10. General discussion about improving YTS political connectivity – federal and provincial. Ken will seek a meeting with MLA Doug Routley.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 AM after the Directors agreed to reconvene at a venue and time yet to be decided.
