The Wednesday, 21 March 2007 meeting of the Executive
Directors was convened at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake Cowichan
at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey, Dickens, and Weir present.
Cowichan Valley Citizen reporter Lexi Bainas attended to give an
interview.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 14 March
2007 meeting as circulated.
2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s
meeting as circulated.
3. The Treasurer reported transfer of all information to the Audit
Committee.
4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary delivered Volume 4, Issue 1 of the TimberLess Times.
5. Ken reported meeting Forests Minister Rich Coleman with a delegation
in Victoria on Wednesday, 14 March 2007. Coleman was asked about
lack of
consultation and urged to stop the export of logs from British Columbia.
6. Ken reported that after consulting with the log export coalition;
it was decided to coordinate a weeklong action campaign. The YTS
has agreed
to undertake a two-day truck count at the Crofton junction of the
Trans-Canada Highway on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28. Volunteers
please!
7. Ken reported on communications with lawyer Joseph Arvay. All
agreed that we immediately send a cheque for $20,000 to Arvay Finlay
– the money to be held In Trust pending disbursements.
8. Discussion about the WCWC’s Rally for Ancient Forests and
BC Jobs to be held at the Ledge on Saturday, 24 March 2007. Roger
will take up offer to speak for the YTS if speakers are still needed.
9. Discussion about the next YTS mail-out package. Ken will laser
print the TimberLess Times and order a run of AGM Notice/Membership
Renewal pages. Joanie will be asked to print envelopes. A fold,
stuff, and stick session will be held next Thursday.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM after the
Directors agreed to reconvene at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake
Cowichan on Thursday, 29 March 2007 at 9:00 AM.
