The Wednesday, 18 April 2007 meeting of the Executive
Directors was convened at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake Cowichan
at 9:00 AM with
all Directors but Casey, Dickens, and Weir present. Member D. Rayner
attended.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 04 April
2007 meeting as circulated.
2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s
meeting as circulated.
3. The Treasurer reported that the Audit Committee had completed
their work on the Financial Report for 2006.
4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
5. Ken reported on participating in an evening of discussion at
the True Grain Bread Bakery in Cowichan Bay on Thursday, 12 April
2007. About 30 interested people discussed the topic, Taking Back
Our Timber. Filmmaker Tom Shandel documented the event.
6. Discussion about the BC Supreme Court of Appeals hearing of James
v. Her Majesty the Queen (Youbou Class Action) held in Victoria
on Tuesday, 17 April 2007. Approximately 30 supporters attended.
Lawyer Joseph Arvay is cautiously optimistic. A decision is expected
in 6–8 weeks. Roger to write a news release.
7. Discussion about logistics for the YTS AGM to be held at the
Somenos Hall, 3248 Cowichan Valley Highway, Duncan, BC at 1:00 PM
on Sunday, 22 April 2007. Materials to be photocopied, duties assigned,
and snacks catered. Roger will chair.
8. Ken reported on the continuing efforts of the Ban Log Exports
Coalition. The PPWC is hosting a rally in Nanaimo at Noon on Monday,
23 April 2007.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM after the Directors agreed
to reconvene at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake Cowichan on Wednesday,
25 April 2007 at 9:00 AM.
