Sept.19, 2007
The Wednesday, 19 September 2007 meeting of the
Executive Directors was moved to Thursday, 20 September 2007. All
Directors except Casey
convened at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake Cowichan at 9:00
AM. Member B. Hayward attended.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 05 September
2007 meeting as circulated.
2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s
meeting as circulated.
3. The Treasurer did not report.
4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
5. The Great Lake Walk was held Saturday, 15 September 2007. Buddy
Bhandar ran the course in a blistering 4 hours, 46 minutes and raised
$546
for the Society. Roger will draft an announcement for the website.
6. Ken reported that the striking United Steel Workers had requested
information about TimberWest and its American Forest and Paper Association’s
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification. The YTS will
provide them with a copy of the submission our Society made in June
2001.
7. Ken reported participating with another organization in coordinating
vehicle parking for the annual Terry Fox Run in Duncan and suggested
that the YTS be involved in this community event next year. About
8 or 10 volunteers will be required.
8. Ken reported that the Sierra Club of BC is hosting a speaking
visit by Al Gore. It was posed that a YTS representative be sponsored
to attend the event. After discussion, it was decided that the $200
admission was too steep. Alternatively, it was agreed that the Secretary
inquire about the availability of complimentary tickets.
9. Discussion about a pre-Xmas YTS mail-out and possible newsletter.
Suggestions and ideas are being canvassed.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 AM after the Directors agreed
to reconvene at the Riverside Hotel Restaurant, Lake Cowichan on
Wednesday,
17 October 2007 at 9:00 AM.
