The Wednesday, 17 October 2007 meeting of the Executive Directors was moved to Wednesday, 24 October 2007. All Directors except Casey and Vermiere convened at the Riverside Inn Restaurant, Lake Cowichan at 9:00 AM. Members K. Dickens and R.Gravelle attended.

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 20 September 2007 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported all current balances.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported on an offer from a Victoria member to pay for one YTS Board member to attend the recent Al Gore presentation. Unfortunately (and inconveniently) the message was received to late to be acted upon. Ken conveyed appreciation for this kind gesture.

5. Ken reported on being invited to speak on behalf of the YTS at a Western Canada Wilderness Committee sponsored rally at the legislature in Victoria on Saturday, 13 October 2007. A crowd of over 500 was there to support the protection of endangered old growth forests.

6. Roger reported on an invitation from University of Victoria educator Brian Egan for the YTS to speak to an Environmental Studies class on the “politics of forestry.” After discussion, it was agreed that we accept and that a mutually convenient time be sought in November. Roger to do.

7. Richard reported that the Cowichan Lake Community Forest Cooperative will hold their AGM on Thursday, 01 November 2007 at 7:00 PM.

8. Discussion about the planned YTS mail-out in November. Roger reported that postage stamps have been purchased. Ken reported that FSC paper
has been sourced. A Xmas party poster has been drafted and newsletter content is to be finalized soon. Keith volunteered to address envelopes.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM after the Directors agreed to reconvene at the Riverside Hotel Restaurant, Lake Cowichan on Wednesday, 31 October 2007 at 9:00 AM.
