November 14, 2007
The Wednesday, 14 November 2007 meeting of the
Executive Directors was convened at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant,
Duncan at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey, Vermiere, and Weir
present. Member K. Dickens attended.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 07 November
2007 meeting as circulated.
2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s
meeting as circulated.
3. The Treasurer did not report.
4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported receipt via PayPal of a special $200 donation
for ink toner and postage stamps. A personal note of recognition
and thanks will be sent to the donor.
5. Ken reported on the BC Court of Appeals decision that was handed
down on Tuesday, 13 November 2007. Disappointingly, the appeal largely
failed.
Lawyer Joseph Arvay is reviewing the judges’ reasons before
recommending a course of action. A 90-day time limit is now in effect.
6. Keith reported posting the latest YTS mail-out to the membership.
Roger reported posting the extra mail-out list and sending the pdf’s
to Lucy for web posting.
7. Discussion about the presentation planned for an Environmental
Studies class in the “politics of forestry” at the University
of Victoria on Tuesday,
20 November 2007. Ken and Roger will attend.
8. Discussion about the YTS Xmas party to be held on Saturday, 15
December 2007. Santa and The Grinch have confirmed. Costumes confirmed.
Venue rental and insurance confirmed. Keith and Ken will
purchase gifts and supplies. Rick will canvas local businesses for
door prize donations.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM after the Directors agreed
to reconvene at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan on Wednesday,
28 November 2007 at 9:00 AM.
