The Wednesday, 16 January 2008 meeting of the Executive Directors was changed to Thursday, 17 January 2008. All Directors but Casey and Vermiere convened at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan at 9:00 AM

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 12 December 2007 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported current balances. The year-end audit committee will be selected soon.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported receipt of a complimentary copy of Our Times Magazine (December 2007) in which the YTS is mentioned.

5. Discussion about the successful YTS Xmas Party. Director Vermiere arranged for the publication of thanks to our many contributing sponsors. Chris has pre-booked the Youbou Hall for Saturday, 06 December 2008. Richard recommended that an
entertainment interlude be added to the next Xmas Party. Mark your calendars!

6. Ken, Chris, and Roger reported meeting with Zane Parker and MLA Doug Routley to discuss community issues on Friday, 11 January 2008. The possibility of a YTS student scholarship was discussed. Roger will follow up.

7. Roger reported accepting an invitation from Living Forest Communities to attend a 4- day planning charrette (January 13 – 16) that imagined a mixed residential and ecobased forestry model near Shawnigan. www.livingforestcommunities.com

8. Ken reported that lawyer Joseph Arvay will commence a proceeding to have the Consent Dismissal Order in the IWA action set aside.

9. Ken reported on a recent interview with News Leader reporter Mike D’Amour.

10. After discussion, it was agreed that Ken be sponsored by the YTS to attend the Coastal
Silvicultural Committee winter workshop being hosted by Malaspina University- College at Cowichan Bay (January 29 – 30).

11. After discussion it was agreed to hold the YTS AGM on Sunday, 20 April 2008. Ken will try and book the Somenos Community Hall.

12. Roger reported filing a private complaint with all levels of government over environmental damage sustained due to poor forestland management practices on Block 1405 at Cowichan Lake. The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 AM after the Directors agreed to reconvene at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan on Thursday, 31 January 2008 at 9:00 AM.
