The Thursday, 31 January 2008 meeting of the Executive Directors was convened at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey, Vermiere, and Weir present. Member K. Dickens attended.

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 17 January 2008 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported that a year-end audit committee has been struck.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported a cover story article in Focus Magazine (December 2007) authored by Katherine Gordon. (Rich Coleman’s generous gift to Western Forest Products)

5. Ken reported that illness had unfortunately prevented his planned attendance at the Coastal Silvicultural Committee winter workshop.

6. Roger reported that MLA Doug Routley has agreed to meet with a YTS delegation later this day about youth scholarship possibilities.

7. Ken reported that the Somenos Community Hall has been booked for the YTS AGM to be held on Sunday, 20 April 2008 at 1:00 PM. Chris agreed to obtain the necessary insurance. Members are urged to consider standing for nomination to the Board.

8. Ken reported that there was no new information from lawyer Joseph Arvay.

9. Roger reported on the progress of a private complaint to all levels of government over environmental damage sustained due to poor forestland management practices on Block 1405 at Cowichan Lake.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM after the Directors agreed to reconvene at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan on Wednesday, 13
February 2008 at 9:00 AM.
