The Wednesday, 05 March 2008 meeting of the Executive
Directors was convened at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan
at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey, Vermiere, and Weir present.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 20 February
2008 meeting as circulated.
2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s
meeting as circulated.
3. The Treasurer reported all current balances.
4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported a cover story article in Focus Magazine (March
2008) authored by Katherine Gordon. (Small Is Beautiful) This is
another excellent discussion of the drift in contemporary BC forest
policy.
5. Roger reported meeting with a group representing a diverse array
of organizations at the invitation of Professor Calvin Sandborn
at the University of Victoria’s Environmental Law Centre on
Thursday, 28
February 2008. Discussions focussed on public forest policy concerns
– especially as applied to so-called private forestlands on
Vancouver Island.
It was agreed that this informal group continue to share information.
6. Ken reported that lawyer Joseph Arvay filed a Writ of Summons
and Statement of Claim in BC Supreme Court on 29 February 2008.
This initiative seeks “an order setting aside the Consent
Dismissal Order in
the IWA Action.”
7. Discussion about the next mailout in advance of the YTS AGM scheduled
for Sunday, 20 April 2008. Postage stamps are purchased.
A new TimberLess Times issue is being composed.
Announcements, agendas, past minutes, and the membership renewal
forms will be proofread and printed.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 AM after the Directors agreed
to reconvene at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan on Wednesday,
