The Wednesday, 09 April 2008 meeting of the Executive Directors was convened at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan at 9:00 AM with all Directors but Casey present. Members K. Dickens, M. Dickens, and L. Vermiere attended.

1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes of the 19 March 2008 meeting as circulated.

2. It was moved and seconded to accept the agenda for today’s meeting as circulated.

3. The Treasurer reported receipt of the Audit Committee’s Report for 2007. Copies will be available at the AGM.

4. The Secretary reported email correspondence.
The Secretary reported posting copies of the latest TimberLess Times to an extra mailout list.

The Secretary reported responding to phone inquiries about the YTS Group Medical Plan from woodworkers in Campbell River and Nanaimo.

5. Roger reported standing in for Ken as guest speaker at a Western Canada Wilderness Committee–sponsored rally held at the Legislature on Saturday, 29 March 2008 in Victoria. About 1300 noisy supporters from all over the BC Coast joined the demonstration. Interviews were conducted with the Gazette and News Leader.

6. Ken reported attending a lecture by eco-forester Ray Travers entitled The Transformation of BC Forestry: Living Well at Nature’s Pace. The
event was held at Providence Farm on the evening of April 06th.

7. Discussion about the YTS advancing public outreach and education by sponsoring a series of invited speakers.

8. Roger reported a positive development from the Town of Lake Cowichan. In March, Council passed a resolution calling on the BC Government “to designate Forest Land Reserves on the forested
private lands currently owned by forest companies to ensure that these valuable lands remain untouched by development.”

The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 AM after the Directors agreed to reconvene at the Silverbridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan on Thursday, 17 April 2008 at 9:00 AM.
