The Wednesday 30 April 2008 meeting of the executive
directors was convened at the Silver Bridge Hotel Restaurant, Duncan
at 9:00 a.m. with all directors except Casey and Weir present. Member
Lucy Vermiere attended.
1. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes
of the 17 April 2008 meeting as circulated.
2. The agenda for today’s meeting as circulated was moved
and accepted.
3. The treasurer reported.
4. Ken reported on e-mail correspondence.
5. Ken reported on the legal developments. An extension has been
requested by Lawyer Sandra Bannister
6. Ken reported that enthusiasm for the idea of the YTS advancing
public outreach and education by hosting a series of invited guests
to present to the public on forestry issues was reinforced at the
AGM.
7. Ken reported that, along with Roger, he attended a “round
table” hosted by PPWC Local 8 in Nanaimo featuring an Ontario
activist. Both agreed it was a well spent evening and new contacts
were made as well as reconnecting with others.
8. Discussion of YTS AGM was positive. Special thanks to members
Terry Manhas and Mehinga Jaswal for supplying tasty treats. A letter
of thanks is to be sent to Mrs C. Manhas thanking her for her work
in food preparation.
9. Due to personal timing conflict we were not able to attend Earth
Day events.
10 . Ken reported communication with Scott Prudham, PhD, regarding
possible further co-operative work with the YTS. More details to
follow.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m. after the
directors agreed to reconvene at the Silver Bridge Hotel Restaurant
in Duncan on Wednesday, 14 May at 9:00 a.m.
