The Youbou TimberLess Society plans on holding
another "Logging truck count" starting Monday March 20th
at 6:30 am at the Crofton turnoff from highway 1 (north of Duncan
across from Russell's Farm Market).
We are doing this to coincide with a Port Alberni group (SOVA) who
will be counting trucks on the "Hump". We hope to show
Canadians that it is NOT just one area of the Island or just one
town where the logs are being so rapidly harvested with so few local
jobs created. It is an epidemic of the entire Island and communities
are losing out!
Please feel free to join us and help "staff" the tent
as we count from 6:30 am until 4:30 pm. We hope to get enough volunteers
to keep the count going for at least 4 days.
Contact Ken James at 746-8684, or papa.ken@shaw.ca to schedule a
time to assist us.
