PRESS RELEASE
23 JULY 2006
YOUBOU SAWMILL LAWSUIT
The Youbou TimberLess Society (YTS) is pleased to announce that
we are halfway to achieving our current fundraising objective of
$20,000. The ‘James vs. Crown’ Legal Fund was initiated
last month to help insure that the next phase of the long-running
legal battle can be pursued by lawyer Joseph Arvay in BC Supreme
Court.
A special mail-out appeal was posted last week by the Society to
all class action members in the expectation that this will propel
the legal fund over the top. Special mention needs go to the Pulp,
Paper, and Woodworkers of Canada (Local 2). They have demonstrated
magnanimous solidarity with the former Youbou workers and their
community by voting from the floor to donate so generously.
The YTS has established a special savings account
for ‘James vs. Crown’ and is soliciting financial support
for the continuing legal struggle. Donations can be made through
the YTS Website at www.savebcjobs.com Address inquiries to Ken James
