Protest of Log Export Ships

There will be demonstration to protest the log export ships in Port Alberni on December 14 at 10 AM.

Demonstration to assemble at the Light House overlooking the log loading area.

Two ships are scheduled to load raw logs in Port Alberni during the week of Dec 12 to 17.
The logs are from Island Timberlands operations and they are bound for Asia.

If log exports are allowed to continue unimpeded there will not be a sawmill in Port Alberni in ten years.
In 10 to 20 days these ships can deliver their cargo of raw logs to a jurisdiction where labour costs $1 per day.
